Anna Pavlova was a famous Russian ballerina who danced with the Imperial Ballet in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and with the Ballet Russes. She was known for her gracefulness and dramatic intensity. Many feel that she was the greatest ballet dancer of all time. The doll is dressed in the costume that Pavlova wore in her signature role of "The Dying Swan" in 1905.
